Look out Boulevard, a new brewery is coming to the Waldo area this November. Taking over the old Babyland store on 79th and Wornall, Kansas City Bier Company or, KCBC will be overhauling the entire building. Set beside the Trolley Track Trail walking path running from 75th to 85th street, KCBC plans to incorporate a traditional Biergarten with outdoor seating and even a kid’s play area. The hope is to have path strollers stop in for a bier on leisurely afternoons. Inside will be a bar and tasting room, with the brewing area filling the back majority of the warehouse space. Owner and brewer Steve Holle plans to focus on traditional German beer. The tasting room with also be serving light fare consisting of some traditional German snacks and cheese plates.
Last summer, we were chosen alongside Rose Design Group to do the design and build out of the space. The building was in a rough state to say the least. Last serving as a warehouse for the retail store Harold Penner’s, bare bones and water stained ceilings awaited us in dire need of a transformation.
