Because breaking the rules can be fun!
When our founder, Steve Holle, started Kansas City Bier Company in 2014, he said he’d never brew an IPA. Fast-forward to 2024- our brewers experimented and came up with an IPA that was so delicious, Steve couldn’t resist drinking it. That bier was Never Say IPA. Even though it didn’t follow the strict Reinheitsgebot rules for German brewing, we decided that it was too good to keep to ourselves.
As often happens, one rule break led to another, so- here we are!
Introducing Never Say Double IPA, a unique Double India Pale Ale made with German and American hops. A silky-smooth malt base from German malts gives way to an explosion of citrus flavors and aromas imparted by select American and German hop varietals. We kicked it up a notch to 8% ABV, but this bier still finishes crisp and clean with a pleasant hint of sweetness.
