Brewed by Logan Beets, the winner of the 2023 KC Bier Meister’s Home Brew Scale-Up contest! Logan’s Zoigl bier was chosen as the best of numerous submissions from across the nation. As winner, Logan was invited to the brewery to brew his recipe with us and release it in the taproom!
Zoigl is a traditional lager brewed in the Oberpfalz region of Bavaria beginning as early as the 1400s in community brew houses, or Kommunbrauhaus. When bier was ready to be served, a beer sign (Bierzeigel) was hung outside of the house, which was usually a 6-pointed star. The star, made of two triangles, represented the ingredients of bier (malt, water, hops) and the three elements (fire, earth, and air). Learn more about Zoigl history here: https://kcbier.com/news/
Logan’s Zoigl Bier is dry and crisp with malt flavors of honey and cereal grains, slight toasted malt character and moderate bitterness, with an ABV of 4.8% and mild 28 IBUs. This bier is only on draught at the Bierhalle, and only available for a limited time!
