It’s time to close out 2019 with our annual German-style New Year’s Eve Celebration! As this event has grown in popularity each year, we’ve expanded the celebration into the brewery. If you can’t snag a table in the Bierhalle, we’ll have additional accommodations in the brewery, including two bier serving stations as well as a food station with Dunkel brats and pretzels. Traditional German attire is encouraged but not required. Put on your Bavarian best!
Because parking is limited and we want you to get home safely, we encourage you to use a ride-sharing service to get to the brewery. Please note last call will take place at 6 PM, with no bier served after 6:30 PM so the brewery can close by 7 PM. Prost!
SHORT FILM, DINNER FOR ONE (4 PM): Watching this 15-minute short film has been a popular New Year’s Eve tradition in Germany for more than 40 years. While set in England and performed in the English language, Dinner for One was filmed in Germany in 1963. Film only shown in the Bierhalle.
“MIDNIGHT” COUNTDOWN (5 PM): We’ll toast the arrival of 2020 at 5 PM CST when the clock strikes midnight in Germany. Nice and early!
JELLY DONUT TOAST (5:15 PM-ish): You can’t usher in a new year without another classic German tradition — jelly donuts! It’s been said the jelly donut originated in Berlin in the late 18th Century. People outside of Berlin call the donut a Berliner. People in Berlin simply call them Pfannkuchen (pancakes). Whatever you wish to call it, eat your donut carefully, because it may contain mustard in place of jam!
FIREWORKS ON THE RHINE (5:30 PM-ish): Following the “midnight” countdown and jelly donut toast, we’ll live-stream the Kölner Lichter (Cologne Lights) Music and Fireworks Celebration on the River Rhine. Live stream only shown in the Bierhalle.
