Join us for an evening of live music from the fantastic Miki P & the Swallowtails, a trio from Kansas City showcasing vocal harmonies, cello, bassoon, and guitar.
About the band:
Following the release of Miki P’s debut album, in the October of 2018 “Miki P and the Swallowtails” was formed. It would be nearly a year later in the August of 2019 that the band began laying down their roots, being featured on Miki’s EP “Swallowtail.” Taking the name and running with it, the EP named after the butterfly would eventually title the band.
In the Spring of 2019 the band performed at “Boulevardia” – a music festival in Kansas City, and soon after hit the road, going as far west as Colorado. The incursion of the COVID pandemic halted the bands progress, and brought a change in line-up as well.
By Fall of 2020, the band rebranded and released their debut album “Right Where We Are” on August 21st of that year. The album was named after a lyric in their song “Like the Spider,” stating that they were exactly where they needed to be in that season.
Nearly 3 years later the band released their sophomore album “The World Still Spins” on the 22nd of May 2023. The title also comes from a lyric on the album, with most all of these songs resonating the flow of change within the passing of time. The release of this project solidified the band as an acoustic powerhouse trio; Miki holding down the rhythm section, Rachel and Adee trading counter-melodies and all Swallowtails contributing floating harmonies and grounded lead vocals.
