Because nothing says St. Patrick’s Day like German-style bier, we’ve put together a proper German-style celebration of your favorite Irish holiday on Sunday, March 17 from 11 AM to 9 PM. We’ll be serving green cider and will have beautiful green 6-packs of Maibock (our current seasonal) on sale for $9.99, plus a few other holiday-appropriate offerings — details below.
Spezial Bier on Tap (All Day)
Schwarzbier: Known as the “German stout,” Schwarzbier is Germany’s darkest bier (Schwarz means “black” in German). This black lager is drier and more bitter when compared to Dunkel, with malt flavors of coffee and chocolate from the use of Munich and roasted malts, and de-husked roasted barley malt produces a less acrid and milder roasted flavor in comparison to a stout ale. It has a clean, crisp, bitter finish. (5.0% ABV, 25 IBU)
Live Music featuring Kid on the Mountain (3-5 PM)
A five-piece progressive Irish band featuring Stevie Wilson Davis (fiddle, vocals), Megan Illidge (mandolin, vocals), Roger Fox (accordion), Bob Illidge (guitar, vocals), Bill Banks (mando-bass, vocals) and Dennis Lucas (bodhran). Modern, progressive, hybrid in nature, Kid on the Mountain honors the past while also bringing its own musical sensibilities and influences together, playing original songs mixed with influences such as jazz, folk, blues, rock, swing, country, and of course, Gaelic music.
