March 14 marks the start of another great German bier tradition: Starkbierzeit, aka “Strong Bier Season,” during which we’ll offer a variety of high-ABV doppelbock-style biers in the Bierhalle for a limited time. In Munich, Starkbierzeit is an Oktoberfest-style festival hosted in the middle of the Lenten season in early spring — except it’s mostly attended by locals and they only drink doppelbock bier instead of the traditional Munich Festbier. The following biers will be on draft in the Bierhalle during Starkbierzeit while supplies last.
- 2020 Blessed Doppelbock (7.2% ABV • 24 IBU)
- 2020 Weizenbock (7.25% ABV • 18 IBU)
- 2019 Eisbock (13.5% ABV • 29 IBU)
- 2019 Dunkelbock (10% ABV • 25 IBU)
- 2019 Heller Bock (10% ABV • 25 IBU)
- 2019 Mai-O-Maibock (10% ABV • 25 IBU)
- 2018 Dunkelbock (10% ABV • 25 IBU)
- 2017 Doppelbock (7.0% ABV • 24 IBU)
- J. Rieger & Co. Whiskey Barrel-Aged 2017 Winterbock (8.25% ABV • 22 IBU)
Please note that these biers are available in limited quantities, and not all bier will be available for the duration of Starkbierzeit.
