Steve Holle, founder/owner of KC Bier Co., brewed this golden export-style lager the day after Thanksgiving 2019. Its rich malty character comes from decoction mashing with 100% imported Pilsner malt and a small amount of Melanoidin malt. The malt is balanced with moderate bitterness from 100% imported Bavarian-grown Hallertau T45 Tradition hops, and its crisp, clean finish comes from nearly eight weeks of lagering and conditioning with pure German lager yeast from Andechs, a Bavarian monastery brewery.

Control + Alt + Repeat
Control + Alt + Repeat is a scale-up of a Düsseldorf-style Altbier recipe created by Eric Claycamp, winner of the KC Bier Meisters annual homebrew competition. It’s a dry, easy-drinking dark brown ale with a balance of malt, fruity ale fermentation flavors and hop bitterness, common to the Düsseldorf area of western Germany. Alt means “old” in German, a reference to the older tradition of brewing with top fermenting yeast. Like their neighbors to the south in Köln, who are known for brewing Kölsch, a crisp golden ale, Altbier brewers in Düsseldorf produce their darker ale with cool fermentation temperatures and long, cold conditioning times to mellow their brews.
Lolli Lager
Lolli Lager is an interpretation of what the first German immigrant brewers to the U.S. were striving to craft in an adjunct-free American lager: a pale, bright and immensely sessionable bier with modest alcohol, aroma and bitterness. Brewed with 100% imported German Pilsner malt and two hop varieties from Bavaria’s famous Hallertau hop-growing region, this German-style light lager was originally brewed by KC Bier Co. brewer Chris Blevins for his wife, Laura (nicknamed ‘Lolli”) to enjoy on their wedding day.
Heller Bock
A fuller-bodied, high-ABV version of our Helles Lager. Rich, honey-like malt character from double decoction mashing with 100% imported German Pilsner malt. Moderate bitterness from Bavarian-grown Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops. Crisp, clean finish from pure Bavarian lager yeast, which naturally carbonated the bier during seven weeks of cold lagering. Available in limited-edition 6-packs exclusively in the Bierhalle while supplies last!
Hook and Lager
A crisp, clean, malty red lager with a distinct reddish hue. Brewed in the style of the traditional Rotbier (Red Bier) of Nuremburg, Germany, with 100% imported German malt and hops, and pure Bavarian Andechs lager yeast. KC Bier Co. is donating $1 for every Hook and Lager to the KC Fire Historical Society, an area nonprofit organization leading efforts to restore a decommissioned fire station into a new museum chronicling the history of the KCMO Fire Department. (Hook and Lager is not available for growler fills due to limited quantity)
